Pharmacovigilance and Technovigilance

Medications and medical devices are designed to treat diseases or aid in their treatment. However, evidence shows that they may also cause unexpected reactions, which can range from mild to moderate or severe.

Commitment to Consumer Health

In 2002, the World Health Organization (WHO) defined pharmacovigilance as the science and activities related to the detection, assessment, understanding, and prevention of adverse effects of medicines or any other health-related issues. The goal is to identify new adverse reactions and prevent harm to patients.

Pharmacovigilance

A public health activity aimed at identifying, quantifying, assessing, and preventing risks associated with the use of medicines once they have been marketed.

Technovigilance

A public health activity aimed at identifying, quantifying, assessing, and preventing risks associated with the use of medical devices once they have been marketed.
